The Archbishop of Jesus Is Alive Ministry, Eziowelle, Anambra State, Onyekachukwu Nzekwesi, has emphasised the need for people to genuinely know Jesus Christ and serve God in truth and in spirit, warning against distorted representations of faith and urging believers to embrace the authentic message of the gospel.
Nzekwesi made the call while addressing worshippers during a major crusade and empowerment programme organised by the ministry at Eziowelle, themed Jesus I Know, where large numbers of congregants and visitors gathered for prayers, teachings and community support activities.
Speaking to the congregation, the archbishop advised Christians to follow Jesus Christ of Nazareth who died on the cross of Calvary, and not versions of Jesus constructed by human interests or material pursuits. He stressed that genuine Christianity is rooted in sacrifice, love and service, not in exploitation, deception or empty promises.
He expressed gratitude to God for the grace to witness the end of the year and step into 2026, describing the journey as evidence of God’s unwavering love and faithfulness to His people. He noted that survival, progress and victory are products of divine mercy rather than human effort alone.
Sharing his personal encounter with Christ, Nzekwesi described Jesus as the Healer who restores without charge, the Provider who meets needs freely, and the Lover of souls who invites all to come without conditions. He explained that the Jesus he knows gives freely, heals completely and promotes lives without imposing financial or manipulative demands on those who seek Him.
The cleric cautioned worshippers against false representations of Jesus, stressing that not every mention of the name reflects the true Christ of the scriptures. He warned against deceptive doctrines and schemes that prey on desperation, including so-called mystery money practices, urging believers to remain grounded in sound biblical teachings and spiritual discernment.
Drawing from scriptural accounts, he highlighted the Jesus revealed through the ministries of Peter and Paul, whose presence brought healing, restoration and wholeness. According to him, Christ remains the lifter of men, the promoter of destinies and the giver of abundant life, calling on believers not to allow themselves to be misled by false promises.
Addressing the youth, Nzekwesi urged them to shun shortcuts to wealth and embrace the living Jesus who uplifts, guides and gives lasting fulfilment. He encouraged young people to pursue faith, discipline and hard work as the foundation for sustainable progress and personal growth.
The programme climaxed with a large-scale empowerment initiative that saw more than 1,000 youths and elderly persons supported with cash assistance, shuttle buses, tricycles and bags of rice distributed to church members and indigent residents of Eziowelle. The empowerment exercise underscored the ministry’s commitment to combining spiritual outreach with practical support for community development.
