President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday met with the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan, alongside some principal officers and members of the Senate.
Akpabio was accompanied by the Deputy Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi; the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu; and Senators Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi and Sharafadeen Alli. The meeting took place during the Senate President’s visit to Ibadan following a series of high-profile engagements in Oyo State.
The Senate delegation had earlier attended the conferment of chieftaincy titles on former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and Barrister Seyi Tinubu by His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I. They also paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, at his residence.
Subsequently, Akpabio and his entourage arrived at the venue of the Oyo State 2025 Carol Service in Agodi, where they were warmly received by Governor Makinde. The Senate President and the governor later held a private discussion away from the public before Akpabio departed Ibadan for Abuja.
The visit underscored continued high-level interactions between the leadership of the National Assembly and state governments, reflecting ongoing political engagement across party and regional lines.
