The All Progressives Grand Alliance has been presented as the only credible political platform through which the Igbo nation can speak with one strong and respected voice in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, amid renewed calls for unity, strategic alignment and collective bargaining power.
In a strongly worded intervention on the state of Igbo politics, the party said the challenge before Ndigbo is no longer about political belonging but about how to negotiate effectively within Nigeria using a unified and culturally grounded platform. According to a press release signed by the National Youth Leader of APGA, Comrade Dr. (Hon.) Ambassador Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, the party remains the authentic political vehicle for protecting Igbo interests and projecting their collective aspirations at the national level.
The statement traced the origins of APGA to vision, identity and destiny, arguing that the party was not formed out of convenience but out of a deliberate resolve to preserve Igbo values, democratic culture, fairness, equity, enterprise and communal responsibility. It described APGA as the political soul of the Igbo people and the only party whose existence is rooted in the preservation and advancement of Igbo ideology within Nigeria’s political system.
Special tribute was paid to the people of Anambra State for what the party described as their unwavering commitment to the historic mandate handed to Ndigbo by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. The release recalled Ojukwu’s final wish that APGA should remain the political home and rallying point of the Igbo people, noting that Ndi Anambra have consistently defended this mandate through difficult periods and changing political tides.
It stated that under the current leadership in Anambra, the state has demonstrated that APGA is not only a party of identity but also one capable of delivering competence, development and progressive governance, thereby reinforcing its relevance beyond symbolism.
The statement also issued a direct appeal to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, urging him to return to APGA in the interest of broader Igbo political strategy. The party argued that the call was not driven by partisan sentiment but by the need to consolidate Igbo political strength, suggesting that a combined effort between Governor Otti and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo would position APGA as a dominant regional force with national respect and bargaining power.
APGA further described itself as the only political party in Nigeria that fully reflects and protects Igbo ideology and democratic culture, anchored on community-first leadership, participatory democracy, integrity, accountability and people-oriented governance. It maintained that unlike other political platforms where Igbo interests are often diluted or compromised, APGA exists solely to preserve and promote Igbo virtues such as hard work, enterprise, truthfulness, self-reliance and collective progress.
In the same release, appeals were extended to Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Tony Nwoye to return to APGA, the platform the party said played a key role in their political growth. It warned that political survival is tied to structure, loyalty and alignment with the people, adding that APGA remains deeply rooted among the masses of the South-East and is strategically positioned to reclaim its mandate in the 2027 general elections.
Looking ahead to 2026, the party called on Igbo political leaders, youths, professionals, traders and traditional institutions to fully embrace APGA and bring an end to what it described as the era of political scattering. The statement stressed that a divided people cannot negotiate effectively, while a united people command respect, declaring APGA not just as a political party but as the political identity of the Igbo nation.
The release was signed by Comrade Dr. (Hon.) Ambassador Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, National Youth Leader of APGA, Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of all Political Parties in Nigeria, and APGA candidate for AMAC Chairman in the forthcoming FCT Council election.
