Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso has rolled out a large-scale empowerment programme for constituents of Imo West Senatorial District, reinforcing his pledge to make representation felt at the grassroots through direct economic support and people-focused interventions.
The empowerment exercise, which drew a large crowd from across communities in the district, saw the distribution of mini buses and motorcycles to enhance mobility and create transportation-based business opportunities, particularly for individuals seeking daily income through commercial activities. Keke NAPEP tricycles were also provided, targeting youths and enterprising residents eager to establish sustainable means of livelihood.
To further strengthen small businesses and household productivity, the senator distributed Hisense refrigerators, sewing machines and grinding machines to traders, artisans and local entrepreneurs. Generators and gas cookers were also included to ease energy challenges faced by homes and small-scale businesses within the district.
Beyond equipment and tools, beneficiaries received cash support designed to offer flexibility, allowing individuals and organized groups to apply the funds according to their specific needs and economic realities.
Addressing constituents at the event, Izunaso described the occasion as another step in his ongoing responsibility to serve the people with sincerity and impact. He said the songs, dancing and visible excitement from beneficiaries reflected a deep connection between leadership and the lived experiences of the people, noting that governance must go beyond promises to deliver results that improve daily life.
He stressed that the empowerment programme was part of a broader development effort aimed at strengthening communities, supporting self-reliance and ensuring that economic opportunities reach ordinary citizens across Imo West. According to him, leadership must be responsive, inclusive and driven by the real needs of the people.
The senator assured constituents of his continued commitment to their welfare, pledging sustained engagement and consistent interventions that promote growth, dignity and shared progress across the district.
