The Joint Association of Non-Indigenes, representing members from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, has formally endorsed Dr Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu (Delaw) as its preferred candidate for the chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, declaring him the most competent contender in the race.
The endorsement was announced in Abuja, where leaders of the association described Dr Eze as a unifying figure whose leadership credentials and inclusive approach have earned him widespread acceptance among residents from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. According to a statement signed by Shedrack Evans, Special Assistant on Media to the candidate, the association said its decision followed careful assessment of the candidates and the urgent need for purposeful leadership in the council.
The group noted that Dr Eze’s SMART AMAC agenda reflects a clear roadmap for security, economic growth, infrastructure renewal, and social inclusion, adding that his vision aligns with the expectations of both indigenes and non-indigenes who contribute to the development and stability of the nation’s capital.
Leaders of the association stressed that the Abuja Municipal Area Council remains home to Nigerians from all regions, and requires leadership that promotes fairness, unity, and equal opportunity. They expressed confidence that Dr Eze possesses the competence and administrative capacity to deliver sustainable development and strengthen community cohesion across the council.
The endorsement is seen as a major boost for the candidate and his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, as political activities intensify ahead of the council elections. Political observers note that support from non-indigene communities has increasingly become a decisive factor in elections within the Federal Capital Territory, given its diverse population and strategic national importance.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support across communities, urging residents to rally behind the candidate in what it described as a collective effort to advance competent leadership, unity, and inclusive governance in the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
