President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to sustain the values of compassion, forgiveness and unity that define the season.
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President commended the Muslim faithful for successfully completing the Ramadan fast, describing the period as one marked by sacrifice, discipline and deep spiritual reflection.
He urged adherents to carry forward the lessons of the holy month, particularly the commitment to almsgiving, empathy and love for one another, noting that these values remain critical to strengthening social harmony and national cohesion.
Akpabio said the significance of Eid-el-Fitr goes beyond celebration, as it offers an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the need for kindness, mutual respect and support for the less privileged, especially in challenging times.
He stressed that the spirit of the season should inspire citizens to promote understanding across religious and ethnic lines, while working collectively towards a more peaceful and inclusive society.
The Senate President also extended his goodwill to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Muslims across the country, expressing hope that the occasion would usher in renewed commitment to peace, progress and shared prosperity.
Eid-el-Fitr is observed by Muslims worldwide at the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and prayer, and is traditionally marked by acts of charity, communal worship and renewed bonds within families and communities.
