The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has been celebrated on the occasion of her birthday on March 24, 2026, with glowing tributes highlighting her leadership and impact within the council.
In a goodwill message, Evelyn Onyilo, Publisher of Phenomenal People Magazine and former President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, described Ike as a young woman who has broken long-standing barriers in the union by becoming the first female to occupy the NUJ FCT Council chairmanship in over four decades.
She said Ike has brought visible changes to the council through welfare-focused initiatives and infrastructural improvements, noting that her leadership has strengthened member participation and re-energised the affairs of the union.
Onyilo further described her as a transformative leader whose tenure has continued to prioritise the welfare and engagement of members, while praying for divine blessings, growth and continued success in her service.
Comrade Grace Ike currently chairs the NUJ FCT Council, where she has been applauded by members for driving reforms aimed at improving welfare structures, infrastructure development and strengthening internal administration of the council.
