President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a cabinet shake-up removing Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy and appointing Oyedele as his replacement.
According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Akume, the directive takes immediate effect, with handover processes expected to be completed on or before April 23, 2026.
Edun was appointed on August 16, 2023 at the start of the Tinubu administration, where he oversaw key fiscal and economic reform policies, including subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms.
Oyedele, who has been leading the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, is expected to continue ongoing tax and revenue reform efforts.
Dangiwa was also affected in the same adjustment as part of the broader cabinet changes.
