Ex-Aviation Minister Sirika Declares Senate Return Bid in Katsina North

By George Ozalla

Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has declared his intention to contest the Katsina North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sirika made the declaration on Friday at the APC secretariat in Katsina, where party members and supporters gathered to witness his formal entry into the race. He said the move followed repeated calls from his supporters and political associates urging him to return to the Senate.
He told the gathering that, if elected, he would focus on improving living conditions in Katsina North, with emphasis on community development, infrastructure, and stronger representation for constituents across the district.
Sirika previously served in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 before being elected to the Senate in 2011, where he represented Katsina North. He later served as Minister of Aviation under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
His tenure as aviation minister included key sector initiatives and the unveiling of Nigeria Air in 2023 shortly before the end of the Buhari administration, a project that drew nationwide attention over its ownership structure involving Ethiopian Airlines, the Federal Government, and Nigerian private investors.
The declaration sets the stage for early political alignment within the APC in Katsina North ahead of the 2027 general elections.
