The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released a detailed timetable for its 2026 primary elections, outlining a step-by-step schedule for the emergence of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party urging strict compliance with its constitution and the Electoral Act.
The timetable, according to a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, sets out a structured sequence beginning with the ongoing collection of application forms which commenced on April 1 and is expected to close on May 4, 2026.
The party fixed May 5 to May 10 for the sale of nomination forms, while submission of completed forms has been scheduled for May 11 to May 13, after which aspirants will undergo screening between May 14 and May 15 to determine their eligibility.
Following the screening exercise, results will be published on May 17, while appeals arising from the exercise will be heard between May 18 and May 19. The final list of cleared aspirants is expected to be released on May 20.
Primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats will hold simultaneously at the ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.
A meeting of the National Executive Committee will follow on May 26, ahead of a Special National Convention fixed for May 27 where the outcomes of the primaries are expected to be ratified.
The party also outlined the approved fees for nomination forms, pegging the presidential form at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million and State House of Assembly at N3 million.
The ADC said youths will receive a 50 percent discount on nomination fees, while women and persons with disabilities will get a 25 percent reduction.
It urged members, stakeholders and aspirants to comply strictly with the timetable and guidelines as the process unfolds.
