A frontline aspirant for the Orumba North and South Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Odiraa Nwankwor, has pledged to commit the rest of his life to public service, with emphasis on policies that produce visible results.
Speaking to journalists Monday in Abuja after obtaining his nomination form at the party’s national headquarters, Nwankwor said, “I am glad that I came here with the first eleven to pick my form, needless mentioning names. Here is APGA headquarters in Abuja. APGA is our own. Anambra is APGA and I hail from Anambra. APGA also accommodates others; it has a national outlook.”
He added, “I pledge here to dedicate the rest of my life to public service, aligning it with public policy to achieve tangible results unlike what we have now in Orumba North and South Federal Constituency.”
The aspirant said he would present his development agenda in the months ahead. “By December, I am going to roll out four pillars of an impactful development roadmap that will affect the youth, women and the general population,” he said.
Nwankwor, a physician and associate professor of paediatrics, also spoke on his professional background and motivation. “I have been a physician for over three decades and all my life I have been in public service. This time, I want to connect it to public policy to do more and achieve more.”
He raised concerns about the current state of representation in the constituency, saying, “It is embarrassing that we have someone who represents Orumba North and South Federal Constituency and the person is documented as one of those who have not spoken a word on the floor of the green chamber in her first year and has one of the lowest performance indicators.”
Outlining his legislative focus, he said, “I am going there to move motions and initiate bills that will impact the entire Orumba North and South.”
On the forthcoming primary, he said, “I am hopeful that in the APGA primary scheduled for May 23, I will secure the ticket and go on to win the seat by God’s grace.”
He also assured constituents of accessibility and participation in governance. “My constituents will have access to me. We are going to hold quarterly town hall meetings where they will have direct input in what I am doing and how I represent them.”
