By Ndudirim Sylvia Iloka

The political landscape in Bauchi State took a decisive turn as Senator Buba Shehu, representing Bauchi South in the 10th Senate, formally submitted his nomination forms, signaling a firm commitment to contest the state’s governorship seat.
Speaking shortly after completing the submission process, the lawmaker emphasized that his aspiration is not self-driven but a direct response to the demands of his constituents and the broader political climate within the state.
“I am here to formally submit my nomination forms. Recall that last week, I obtained the forms and returned to my constituents, who endorsed and signed them. That is why I am here today to complete the process,” he stated.
Senator Buba dismissed ongoing speculations suggesting a possible return to the Senate, making it clear that his political focus has shifted entirely toward the governorship race.
“I’m not going for the Senate again. My nomination form is for the gubernatorial contest,” he affirmed.
Explaining the rationale behind his decision, the senator highlighted the distinctive political structure of Bauchi State, describing it as one rooted in inclusiveness, awareness, and active civic participation.
“Our politics in Bauchi is unique. It reflects a high level of political consciousness and engagement. Based on this, my constituents and the people of Bauchi have called on me to serve at the state level,” he said.
Outlining his vision for the state, the governorship aspirant identified key sectors that would form the backbone of his administration if elected. These include security, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development, areas he described as critical to sustainable growth and prosperity.

“When elected, my focus will be on critical sectors such as security, education, health, agriculture, and the economy. These are the pillars that will drive development in the state,” he added.
Expressing optimism about his chances in the forthcoming election, Senator Buba pointed to what he described as growing grassroots support and a strong political outlook.
