Governorship aspirant and legal scholar, Comrade Mustafa Saliu, PhD, has expressed confidence in securing the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s primary election later this month.
Speaking during an interview with journalists, Saliu said politics remains a game of strategy, preparation, and opportunity, stressing that he remains optimistic about emerging as the party’s candidate for the Adamawa State governorship race.
According to him, his preparation, political experience, and growing support base across the state, place him in a strong position ahead of the primaries.
“The political process is unpredictable, but I believe preparation creates opportunity. I am prepared for the task ahead, and I trust the people of Adamawa State will support this vision,” he said.
On the mode of primary election being considered by the party, Saliu noted that his camp is fully prepared for either direct primaries or a consensus arrangement.
“We are comfortable with any method adopted by the party. Our team is ready,” he added.
The aspirant also pledged to sustain and expand the developmental strides of the current administration if elected governor.
He commended the incumbent governor for initiating major infrastructure and development projects across the state, noting that many long-term projects require continuity beyond a single administration to achieve their full impact.
Saliu said his administration would focus on unity, inclusion, and accelerated development, emphasizing that ethnic and religious harmony would remain central to his agenda.
Using the slogan “Kowanamu,” he explained that his vision is to build a government that accommodates every group and strengthens social cohesion across the state.
“We must see ourselves as one people. Unity is essential for progress, and without it, development becomes slow,” he stated.
Reacting to questions about the opposition and the growing political influence of rival candidate, Saliu dismissed concerns, insisting that his camp remains focused and undeterred.
“Political strategies are not discussed publicly, but we are not intimidated by any opponent,” he said.
