President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that Akwa Ibom State will produce the highest votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South South zone during the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio made the remark on Tuesday at the Government House in Uyo during the consultation meeting of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where Governor Umo Eno formally consulted party leaders and stakeholders on his second term bid.
According to a press statement signed by the Special Assistant to the President of the Senate on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio said the gathering showed that Governor Eno had continued to carry people along with his style of leadership.
He described the governor as a peaceful man whose approach to governance had united political leaders and party faithful across the state.
The Senate President said even though Governor Eno had no challenger for the sole governorship ticket of the APC, he still found it necessary to meet with stakeholders and seek their support, a move he described as a sign of humility.
Akpabio stated that ongoing projects across the state showed clearly that there was governance in place, adding that road projects, public facilities and abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations were receiving attention under the present administration.
He also congratulated the governor on the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, describing it as a major development for the state.
Akpabio further said the people of Akwa Ibom remained appreciative of President Tinubu for supporting the emergence of an indigene of the state as President of the Senate, adding that the state would show its gratitude during the next presidential election.
He expressed confidence that Akwa Ibom would stand out in the South South with the highest votes for Tinubu in 2027.
