The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has stepped up regulatory engagement across its operational offices with renewed focus on passenger protection, compliance monitoring, and improved coordination within the aviation sector.
In its latest intervention, the NCAA Kano Regional Office convened a stakeholder engagement meeting involving key aviation and border control agencies to address recurring complaints linked to passengers being denied boarding despite meeting travel requirements and completing airline check-in procedures.
The Regional Manager, Alhaji Ango Shehu Mohammad, who presided over the session, stressed the need for stronger inter-agency coordination at airport terminals, noting that gaps in facilitation processes continue to affect passenger experience and operational efficiency.
He added that all stakeholders must ensure strict adherence to professional standards in line with directives from the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, who has consistently emphasized safety compliance, efficiency, and improved service delivery across the aviation industry.
The engagement comes as the NCAA maintains broader regulatory activity nationwide, including ongoing consultations with aviation stakeholders on consumer protection, airline compliance obligations, and operational standards.
In a related development, the Authority is preparing for the implementation of a major digital licensing and certification system scheduled to commence in July 2026. The new platform will phase out manual processes for pilots, engineers, and aviation medical personnel, replacing them with a streamlined electronic system designed to improve turnaround time and reduce administrative delays.
The reform is expected to reshape licensing procedures within the aviation sector, with the NCAA stating that it is part of wider efforts to modernise regulatory operations and align with evolving global aviation practices.
Industry operators say the combination of field-level interventions and structural reforms reflects a more active regulatory posture by the Authority.
The Authority has continued to engage operators and airport stakeholders on recurring service issues, with emphasis on boarding procedures, passenger handling, and adherence to established aviation regulations across airports in the country.
