President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda depends on the collective commitment of citizens across the country.
Akpabio made the call on Thursday while delivering a goodwill message at the inauguration of the national executives of the PBAT Door to Door Movement held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, where he represented President Tinubu.
The Senate President commended the founder and Grand Patron of the movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for initiating a grassroots platform aimed at promoting citizen participation and mobilising support for the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
He said the National Assembly would continue to provide the necessary legislative support to enable the Federal Government implement reforms designed to reposition the nation’s economy, strengthen institutions and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
Akpabio stated that the challenges confronting the country require unity, patriotism and shared responsibility, stressing that meaningful national development often demands sacrifice, perseverance and the support of the people.
He urged members of the PBAT Door to Door Movement to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to communities across the country, encouraging them to engage Nigerians with facts, civility and respect while highlighting the achievements and programmes of the present administration.
According to him, the movement should serve as a bridge between the government and the people by enlightening citizens on ongoing reforms and encouraging wider public participation in nation building.
The Senate President further stated that Nigeria’s progress should remain the overriding objective of every patriotic citizen, irrespective of political affiliation, adding that the country’s unity and development must always take precedence over personal and partisan interests.
The event featured the inauguration of the movement’s national executives and attracted political leaders, members of the National Assembly, ministers, governors, traditional rulers, captains of industry and supporters of the All Progressives Congress from across the country.
Among the dignitaries present were Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari; High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), who was represented by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Keston Pondi, FNSE; Chairman of Maton Engineering Limited, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; as well as ministers, lawmakers, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
