The Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, played host to an evening of laughter and conviviality on Sunday, July 12, 2026, as renowned comedian MC Bob staged the 2026 edition of his annual comedy show, The Lies They Told Us When We Were Young. The event attracted an impressive gathering of business leaders, captains of industry, legal practitioners, entertainers, public office holders and other distinguished guests.
Beautiful lighting, colourful stage effects and giant LED screens gave the hall a festive atmosphere as guests settled in for an evening that blended comedy, music and social interaction. Stewards moved from table to table serving assorted small chops, refreshments and choice drinks while friends, associates and invited guests exchanged pleasantries and posed for photographs.
As the lead sponsor, Gold Reef Villa Estate Luxury Homes maintained a strong presence throughout the programme. Its logo and promotional visuals appeared repeatedly on the giant LED screens, alongside images of luxury estates and ongoing construction projects in different parts of Abuja. The presentations caught the attention of many guests, several of whom watched with keen interest as the company’s projects were showcased.
Among the developments featured was Mbora Estate, with its modern infrastructure, good road network, potable water, 24 hour power supply, security and smart home features. The presentations also highlighted the company’s growing property portfolio in Kukwaba, Wuse 2 and Katampe, reflecting its expanding presence in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of Gold Reef Villa Estate Luxury Homes, High Chief Kenneth Ejiofor Ifekudu, popularly known as Agbalanze, expressed confidence in the company’s direction.
“We are indeed setting new standards in luxury living. We have property at Mbora, Kukwaba, Wuse 2 and Katampe. We shall continue to break new grounds too,” he said.
High Chief Ifekudu attended the event with his wife. Seated at the same table were High Chief Bert Chucks Igwilo, SAN, (Ezeani Adazi-Ani), alongside other prominent personalities.
The respected businessman was visibly enjoying the performances, laughing heartily as comedians mounted the stage. He repeatedly appreciated the performers for keeping the audience entertained, drawing both applauses and smiles from many guests seated around him.
Earlier before the programme commenced, Agbalanze rose from his seat and walked round few tables to exchange pleasantries with friends, associates and enthusiastic guests before returning to enjoy the rest of the performances.
Visibly elated MC Bob acknowledged High Chief Ifekudu before the audience, thanking him for his unwavering support for the entertainment industry and his encouragement of young talents. He described Agbalanze as one of those who have continued to identify with the growth of comedy and other creative talents, a remark that was greeted with applause.
MC Bob and other commedians held the audience spellbound with different performances filled with relatable jokes and humorous reflections on everyday life. It was a basket of jokes that thrilled the audience, ensuring that laughter echoed across the hall for most of the night.
Away from the stage, the event provided a relaxed setting for interaction among entrepreneurs, professionals, entertainers and public figures. Guests moved from one table to another exchanging greetings, renewing friendships and taking photographs that captured the memorable evening.
Many guests commended the quality of the production, the impressive turnout and the warm atmosphere that defined the event.
The event stretched into the early hours of Monday and finally ended at about 2:00 a.m., with many guests still exchanging pleasantries long after the final performance. It was another successful outing for MC Bob, while Gold Reef Villa Estate Luxury Homes left no one in doubt about its growing stature in Nigeria’s luxury real estate industry, judging by the remarkable visibility its brand enjoyed throughout the night.
