Former Deputy President of the Senate and Senatorial Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has congratulated the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON, on his 65th birthday, describing him as a symbol of hope and a leader committed to transforming Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message issued on Saturday, Omo-Agege said Obi’s leadership qualities and record of public service have continued to inspire millions of Nigerians who believe in a better future for the country.
He commended Obi’s tenure as Governor of Anambra State, saying it was marked by prudent management, institutional reforms and responsible governance, which have remained reference points in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
According to him, Obi has consistently demonstrated the values of integrity, competence, accountability and selfless service, adding that these ideals form the foundation of the NDC’s vision for Nigeria.
Omo-Agege stated that the party offers Nigerians a credible alternative focused on moving the country from consumption to production, promoting self-sufficiency, strengthening education and healthcare, investing in human capital, securing lives and property, and creating opportunities for young people.
He expressed confidence that the people of Delta Central and the entire South-South region have embraced the NDC’s message, noting that many Nigerians believe in Obi’s vision of a productive, secure, accountable and inclusive nation.
The former Deputy Senate President also pledged his commitment to supporting the implementation of Obi’s programmes through legislation if elected into the Senate.
“I bring to this partnership a proven legislative record and a commitment to ensuring that what you promise from the Presidency, the Senate of Nigeria delivers in legislation. You will have in me a senator who knows the institution, who has built the relationships, and who will fight every day to translate your presidential vision into the laws, appropriations, and institutional realities that ordinary Nigerians can touch and feel in their daily lives,” he said.
Describing the 2027 general election as more than a political contest, Omo-Agege said it represents a movement to restore confidence in public institutions and build a nation governed with integrity and competence.
He expressed optimism that the NDC would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections under Obi’s leadership.
Omo-Agege prayed for God to grant Obi good health, long life, wisdom and renewed strength to continue providing leadership, while wishing him many more years of impactful service to Nigeria.
