The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally activated its campaign machinery ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, with leaders of the party charging members of its National Campaign Council to focus on strategies that will secure victory at the polls.
Speaking on Monday at the inaugural meeting of the 291-member National Campaign Council and its 12 subcommittees in Abuja, Chairman of the council and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, urged members to remain committed to the task of reclaiming Osun State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing council members at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Uzodinma stressed that the assignment demanded dedication, discipline and hard work rather than ceremonial meetings. He explained that every arm of the campaign structure must align its activities with the overriding objective of delivering victory for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
He directed the 12 subcommittees to commence work immediately and submit detailed operational plans to the council’s Central Working Committee within the week to facilitate the seamless rollout of campaign activities across Osun State.
The governor further stated that the governorship election remained the party’s immediate priority, stressing that all decisions, programmes and engagements of the council must be driven by the objective of winning the poll.
Uzodinma also tasked the finance subcommittee with commencing fundraising efforts without delay, urging party members, supporters and other stakeholders to mobilise the resources required for a successful campaign.
The meeting was jointly presided over by Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, who serves as Secretary of the National Campaign Council.
The inaugural session was attended by party leaders, members of the National Campaign Council and chairmen of the various subcommittees. All committees are expected to submit their work plans, recommendations and requests for support to the Central Working Committee before Thursday’s deadline.
