The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, has announced the burial arrangements for his mother-in-law, Ezinne Augustina Ananyenwa Obi, who passed away at the age of 82.
In a statement personally signed by Hon. Ogah, he described the deceased as a devoted mother, grandmother and respected matriarch who lived a life of humility, love, service and unwavering faith.
He said Ezinne Obi’s legacy of kindness and dedication to her family and community would continue to inspire generations, as the family prepares to give her a befitting final farewell.
The burial activities will commence on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with a wake keep scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at her residence, No. 55 Ogbete Crescent, Housing Estate, Abakpa Nike, Enugu State.
The funeral programme will continue on Thursday, August 13, with another wake keep at 5:00 p.m. at the compound of her late husband, Pa Philip Ikpeamanweze Obi, at Amankwo Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The main funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, August 14, at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, Amankwo Inyi. The deceased will lie in state at 9:30 a.m., while the Funeral Mass will commence at 10:00 a.m.
Her remains will be interred immediately after the Mass at her husband’s compound, while a reception will follow at Girls High School, Inyi, where family members, friends, political associates and other well-wishers will gather to honour her memory.
The funeral programme will conclude on Sunday, August 16, with a Thanksgiving Mass scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church, Amankwo Inyi.
Ogah warmly invited friends, political associates, constituents, well-wishers and members of the public to join the Obi family in celebrating the life and legacy of Ezinne Obi and praying for the peaceful repose of her soul.
He said the values she represented, particularly kindness, humility, dedication to family and community, and unwavering Christian faith, would remain an enduring part of the legacy she leaves behind.
