The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has fixed the physical screening and documentation exercise for successful candidates shortlisted for recruitment into the Service, with the exercise scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The Service made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by its National Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, who said all successful candidates are required to appear for the exercise in line with the dates assigned to their respective states and cadres.

The NCS directed the shortlisted candidates to come with the original and photocopies of documents required for verification during the exercise. The documents include the National Identification Number (NIN), original Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age and educational certificates relevant to the qualifications presented during the recruitment process.

The educational certificates required include O’Level, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Degree and other applicable qualifications.

Candidates are also required to present a Certificate of State of Origin, two recent passport photographs and a completed Guarantor’s Form.

Those for whom the requirement applies are expected to present their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Certificate as part of the documentation for the exercise.

The Service also gave candidates specific instructions on their appearance, directing them to wear a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes for the physical screening.

The NCS stressed that candidates must report only on the date allocated to their respective states and cadres, warning that attendance at the exercise is compulsory.

It said failure by any shortlisted candidate to appear as scheduled could result in disqualification from the recruitment process.

The physical screening and documentation exercise is expected to enable the Service to verify the identity, qualifications and other documents of candidates who have successfully reached this stage of the recruitment exercise.

The NCS said candidates who successfully complete the screening and documentation would receive further instructions on subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

The Service also urged candidates to be wary of unauthorised information concerning the exercise and to rely solely on official NCS communication channels for updates and other recruitment-related information.

The Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and his management team, assured candidates and the general public that the recruitment process would remain transparent, fair and merit-based.

The Service called on all shortlisted candidates to comply with the screening requirements and ensure that they report on their assigned dates with the required documents to avoid losing their opportunity in the recruitment process.
