High Chief Martin Nwabueze, Agubuzo na Dunukofia, will be honoured by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, as the 2026 Anambra State Man of the Year.
The honour is coming in recognition of his humanitarian service, youth empowerment and community development efforts, which have earned attention within his community.
Nwabueze, also known by the title Ichie Akubudike, will receive the award at Anabelle Event Centre, Awka, during the council’s 35th anniversary celebration.
The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and is expected to attract journalists, community leaders, public figures and other guests.
His humanitarian activities have centred on providing assistance to people in need, while his youth empowerment efforts have focused on supporting young people and creating opportunities for them.
He has also been associated with community development initiatives, with his activities directed towards supporting people and contributing to the growth of his community.
The choice of Nwabueze for the award places emphasis on the value of service and the impact individuals can make through their involvement in the lives of other people.
The recognition also comes from the journalism community in Anambra State, with the NUJ council using its 35th anniversary celebration to honour an individual whose activities have attracted attention in the areas of humanitarian service, youth development and community affairs.
A statement from Ichie Akubudike Foundation Media described the honour as an acknowledgement of Nwabueze’s contribution to the people, saying, “When service speaks, recognition becomes inevitable.”
The statement said the people had seen the impact of his activities and that the award was being given to acknowledge his continued commitment to humanitarian service, youth empowerment and community development.
