Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, with concurrent accreditation to Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia, His Excellency, Ambassador (Engr.) Abass Braimah Ogwime, has joined other African ambassadors to officially commission the newly established Hungarian-African House (Magyar-Afrika Ház) in Budapest.
Ambassador Ogwime was selected among African Heads of Mission accredited to Hungary for the commissioning and also served as Guest Speaker at the opening ceremony held in Budapest on October 2, 2026.
The event brought together members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the Hungarian Government, African Heads of Mission, business leaders, investors, members of the African diaspora and other stakeholders interested in strengthening relations between Hungary and African countries.
The Hungarian-African House is an initiative of the Foundation for Africa, established to provide a permanent platform for dialogue, business engagement, cultural exchange and cooperation between Hungary and African countries.
The initiative is designed to create a meeting point where Hungarian and African businesses, institutions, investors, academics and other stakeholders can establish partnerships, exchange ideas and develop practical areas of cooperation.
Through the facility, stakeholders from Hungary and Africa are expected to have greater opportunities to engage on matters of mutual interest, including trade, investment, institutional partnerships, cultural exchange and other areas capable of strengthening relations between Hungary and the African continent.
The participation of Ambassador Ogwime in the commissioning further provided an opportunity to highlight Nigeria’s interest in initiatives that promote meaningful diplomatic and economic engagement between African countries and Hungary.
The Embassy of Nigeria in Budapest reaffirmed its commitment to promoting diplomacy, partnership and shared prosperity, while supporting initiatives that bring Nigerian, African and Hungarian institutions, businesses and communities together for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The commissioning therefore marked another platform for diplomatic and private-sector stakeholders to explore practical partnerships and strengthen the relationship between Hungary and African countries.
The event was organised under the auspices of the Foundation for Africa, which established the Hungarian-African House as a permanent platform for continued engagement between Hungary and Africa.
