Aniorji Declares 2027 House Bid, Cites Representation Gap in Enugu Constituency

By Ndudirim Sylvia Iloka

Businessman and political advocate, Mitchell Ifeanyi Aniorji, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, pointing to what he described as inadequate representation at the federal level.
Aniorji made the declaration in Abuja on Tuesday shortly after submitting his expression of interest form, emphasizing the need for stronger federal engagement to complement ongoing development efforts in Enugu State.
According to him, despite noticeable progress driven by the state government, the constituency has yet to benefit from effective representation in the National Assembly.
“The reality is that my people are not adequately represented. Considering the scale of development led by the state government, there is a clear need for stronger federal presence in our constituency,” he stated.
He commended the administration of Governor Peter Mbah, noting that the state has witnessed significant transformation and is on track to becoming one of Nigeria’s leading performers in governance and development.
Aniorji added that aligning federal representation with the state’s progress would further accelerate growth in the constituency.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, he expressed confidence in his chances, citing growing support from grassroots stakeholders, including youths, women, and party members.
“The encouragement I have received from young people, women, and key stakeholders has been overwhelming. With that level of backing, I am optimistic about securing victory in the primaries,” he said.
