The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has presented an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operator Certificate (UOC) to Mekatron & Persones, authorising the company to commence Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations in Nigeria.
The certificate was presented on June 10, 2026, at the Authority’s corporate headquarters in Abuja by the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo.
Congratulating the company on the successful certification, Najomo said the seamless process was in line with the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business policy. He added that the Authority would continue to intensify surveillance and monitoring activities to ensure operators maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The DGCA stressed that safety and adherence to operational standards remain central to the NCAA’s oversight responsibilities as the use of unmanned aircraft continues to expand across the country.
Responding, the Accountable Manager of Mekatron & Persones, Ambassador Haliru Bello Dogondaji, expressed appreciation to the NCAA for its professionalism throughout the certification exercise.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest operational and safety standards, assuring that the certificate would be deployed responsibly and effectively in accordance with regulatory provisions.
Dogondaji attended the ceremony alongside the company’s Managing Director, Miss Fatima Zarah Bello.
Also present were the NCAA Director of Airworthiness Standards and Chairman of the Flight Standards Group, Engr. Godwin Balang; General Manager, General Aviation (Operations), Capt. Maikano Wilson Tijo; Deputy General Manager, Air Traffic Management (ATM), Mr. Bakam Amin Baranzan, and other officials of the Authority.
The issuance of the certificate further reflects the NCAA’s commitment to regulating emerging aviation technologies while promoting safe and orderly growth of unmanned aircraft operations in Nigeria.
