By Ndudirim Sylvia Iloka

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sympathy to former member of the House of Representatives and Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Fund, Hon. Doris Uboh-Ogunkoya, over the death of her husband, Mr. Adebowale Abayomi Ogunkoya.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the late Ogunkoya as an accomplished entrepreneur, visionary business leader and patriot whose contributions to Nigeria’s power and telecommunications sectors left an enduring legacy.
According to the party, Ogunkoya distinguished himself in the private sector through Deksy Nig. Ltd., where he played a significant role in delivering critical infrastructure projects that supported national development. It noted that his commitment to excellence, professionalism and innovation earned him widespread respect within the business community and among stakeholders in the country’s infrastructure sector.
The APC further stated that beyond his impressive business accomplishments, the late Ogunkoya remained deeply committed to community service and grassroots development. It said he consistently invested his time and resources in initiatives that promoted the welfare and progress of his hometown, Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, where he was widely admired for his generosity, humility and unwavering dedication to the people.
The ruling party also recalled his active involvement in the Owo High School Old Students’ Association, where he served as Secretary of the 1974 graduating class. It said he was admired by fellow alumni for his exceptional leadership, organisational skills and commitment to strengthening the bond among members of the association.
Describing him as a man of uncommon warmth, compassion and integrity, the APC said Ogunkoya was widely known for his welcoming disposition, sense of humour and ability to build lasting relationships across different backgrounds. The party added that his life of service, kindness and mentorship positively impacted many individuals who came in contact with him.
The APC noted that his passing has created a profound vacuum not only within his immediate family but also among business associates, friends, community leaders and numerous beneficiaries of his goodwill, adding that his memory would continue to inspire those who shared in his vision of service and development.
The party described Hon. Uboh-Ogunkoya, who represented Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, as a committed party leader and public servant who deserves the support, prayers and solidarity of party members and Nigerians at this difficult time.
The APC extended its heartfelt condolences to Hon. Uboh-Ogunkoya, her children, grandchildren, siblings and the entire Ogunkoya family, praying that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. It also prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Adebowale Abayomi Ogunkoya, whose life, the party said, was marked by industry, integrity and selfless service to humanity.
