The African Universities Registrars Association has been formally inaugurated at KCA University in Nairobi, heralding a new chapter in administrative cooperation across the continent. The development followed a historic meeting between Nigerian university registrars and their Kenyan counterparts during a visit that concluded this week.
According to information from the delegation, the group returned safely to Nigeria after what was described as a memorable and productive engagement. During the sessions, registrars from both countries reached a consensus to establish a unified continental body to be known as the African Universities Registrars Association, bringing together registrars from universities across Africa.
The Chairman of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities, Dr Bala I. Ahmed II, was unanimously elected as the pioneer president of the new association. He will serve in the interim alongside other members drawn from Nigeria and Kenya, including Vice Chairman of ARNU, Dr Rebecca Okoji; Dr Faith K. Mwenda of African Nazarene University; Mr Stephen Nganja of Strathmore University; and the Registrar of Kenya College of Accountancy University, who will serve as secretary.
The inauguration at KCA University is viewed as a resounding milestone toward strengthening collaboration and professional standards within university administration across Africa.
Dr Ahmed II , is a seasoned administrator with years of experience in university governance and academic management. He has played a central role in strengthening the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities and is widely regarded for his commitment to administrative excellence, institutional development, and professional capacity-building within the higher education sector.
