Senator Dr Tony Nwoye at the weekend held a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Ayamelum Local Government Areas, reaffirming his commitment to transparent, accountable and inclusive representation across party lines in Anambra North Senatorial District.
The engagement provided an open forum for dialogue, during which the Senator briefed participants on his legislative activities at the National Assembly, including bills sponsored, motions raised and constituency projects attracted to the district since his assumption of office. He emphasized the importance of continuous consultation with constituents as a basis for effective representation and people-driven development.
Addressing stakeholders from Ayamelum Local Government Area, Senator Nwoye announced proposed road construction projects in Umumbo, Igbakwu and Omasi communities. He also outlined plans for targeted empowerment programmes in agriculture, education and small-scale business, scheduled to commence in 2026, with a focus on youth and women participation.
In Onitsha South Local Government Area, the Senator pledged the completion of the Fegge Primary Health Care Centre and the installation of additional solar-powered streetlights to improve healthcare delivery and enhance security within the area.
Speaking to stakeholders from Onitsha North Local Government Area, Senator Nwoye highlighted several projects already executed in the council area and assured constituents of more interventions aimed at addressing pressing infrastructural and social needs.
The town hall meeting witnessed a massive turnout of community leaders, party stakeholders, youth groups and women associations from the three local government areas. The event also featured the distribution of over 450 bags of 50kg rice and cash stipends to beneficiaries drawn from across the participating LGAs.
Dignitaries at the meeting included Hon Idu Emeka, member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, Hon Jude Umennajiego, member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Odoakpu Constituency, Hon Fred Ezenwa, member representing Onitsha South 1, Fegge Zone, and Hon Uchenna Okafor, also known as Wiper, alongside other political leaders and community stakeholders.
The town hall engagement is part of a broader constituency outreach programme by the Senator, with similar meetings scheduled to continue in Oyi, Anambra East, Anambra West and Ogbaru Local Government Areas.
Senator Tony Nwoye represents Anambra North Senatorial District at the National Assembly and has maintained a series of constituency engagements aimed at strengthening participatory governance and aligning legislative priorities with grassroots development needs.
