The rising surge of security challenges in Nigeria has become a constant threat to the growth of the Nation’s fragile economy and food security .
Unarguably this destabilizing trend unsettled all facets of national development and public well being.
Limiting the solution to the formal security apparatus of the country will be counter productive and lacking in capacity to deal with the imposing challenges.
Crime and security issues have become multidimensional and highly sophisticated, requiring a paradigm shift in approach in tackling the remote courses , cases and consequences.
In adopting the concept aforementioned , crime and security knowledge exploration , dissemination and preservation becomes sacrosanct in finding a lasting solution through study , research and prevention .
This position was extrapolated upon and canvassed for by Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha , the Vice Chancellor of Fomer Nnamdi Azikiwe University Abambara State , now Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University , during her maiden visit to a Security Expert and Philanthropist Sir Chikwe Udensi at his Asokoro residence in Abuja
The University Don , Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha thrilled and impressed with the wealth of knowledge , experience and array of modern facilities ( at the disposal of Sir Udensi ) in dealing with security issues in Nigeria , called on Sir Chikwe Udensi to collaborate with the University to establish a ” Faculty of Security Studies” at the Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University campus
While observing that the need for security conscious society can only be achieved by institutionalizing the subject through security knowledge exploration, dissemination , and preservation in the university.
Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha was accompied in the visit by other Scholars including Professor Cashmir Anih and Mark Okeji who also consenting to the lauderdale project appealed to Sir Udensi to consider the proposal as one of his usual philantropic contributions to humanity that will provide solutions to tackling the perennial insecurity problems in the South East and the nation in general.
Stressing that in recent time , the South East and Anambara State had remained a flash point of insecurity that had led to loss of lives and properties worth billions of naira and thus crippling the economic activities and business growth in the region.
Sir Chikwe Udensi on his part thanked his guests for the honour accorded him and further reiterated that intellectualizing the Security Situations in the South East as a means of providing a solution , could have come at no better time than now
He asserted that It is a welcome development that requires the efforts and sacrifice of the citizens and government to achieve .
Sir Udensi pledged to collaborate with the Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Authority in actualizing the proposal presented to him .
