In a bold move to promote transparency and accountability, Burkina Faso’s 37-year-old President Ibrahim Traore has publicly declared his total net worth, standing at $128,566. This gesture is part of a broader effort to tackle corruption and ensure good governance within his administration.

President Traore has instructed all government officials to declare their assets by March 24, 2025, warning that failure to comply will result in swift prosecution. He emphasized that making false declarations to appear wealthy will be punished, reiterating his commitment to eradicating corruption.

Demonstrating his dedication to servant leadership, President Traore has also rejected a salary increment, choosing instead to maintain the same compensation he received as a soldier before assuming the presidency.

To further curb corruption, Traore has banned government officials from engaging in any business dealings with the state. This move aims to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure that public officials prioritize the nation’s welfare above personal gain.
