As the world bids farewell to Pope Francis, Prof Joy Ezeilo, a renowned advocate for human rights, pays tribute to the late Pontiff’s remarkable legacy. According to Prof Ezeilo, Pope Francis was a tireless advocate for the voiceless, vulnerable, victimized, and impoverished, leaving an indelible mark on Christendom and beyond.

Prof Ezeilo shared a personal anecdote about meeting Pope Francis in 2013 at the Vatican during an Interdenominational Conference on Human Trafficking, where she served as the UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children. She recalled a poignant story of an Argentine woman who was rescued by Pope Francis himself when he was a Bishop in Argentina, highlighting his commitment to fighting human trafficking.

“Fare thee well, our Holy Father Pope Francis! A beacon of divine grace, a tireless advocate for the voiceless, vulnerable, victimized, and impoverished,” Prof Ezeilo said, reflecting on the Pope’s life’s work as a testament to unwavering faith and devotion to God and humanity.

Pope Francis’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, and his impact on the world will be remembered for years to come.
