The Police Service Commission (PSC) has commenced the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) interview for Inspectors due for promotion to the rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP II). The exercise, which began on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, is being held across 17 Police Zonal Command Headquarters nationwide.
According to a press statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd mni), emphasized that the promotion process will be based solely on merit and availability of vacancies. He warned against any attempts to compromise the integrity of the exercise, assuring that the Commission will deal with anyone found wanting.
DIG Argungu urged candidates to prepare well for the interview, have confidence in the system, and allow for a smooth and credible exercise. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to building a new Police culture that prioritizes merit, competence, and innovation.
The exercise is being jointly supervised by the PSC and senior Police Officers, with Hon Commissioners monitoring the process in their respective geo-political zones to ensure credibility. The Commission remains committed to ensuring a fair and transparent promotion process for all officers.
