Tinubu Meets Obi, Fayemi at Vatican Mass

By George Ozalla

President Bola Tinubu met with Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi at the Pope Leo XIV’s installation mass in Rome on Sunday. Fayemi, who spotted President Tinubu seated with other leaders, invited Obi to join him in paying homage to the President.

During their brief encounter, Fayemi introduced Obi to President Tinubu, saying, “Mr. President, welcome to our church, and thank you for honouring the Pope with your presence.” President Tinubu responded with wit, “I should be the one welcoming you and Peter. I’m the Head of the Nigerian Delegation.”

Obi and Fayemi, both staunch Catholics and Papal knights, were amused by the President’s remark. Obi agreed, saying, “Yes, indeed. We are members of your delegation.” The meeting showcased a moment of camaraderie among Nigerian leaders abroad.
