“APC’s Expansion in Akwa Ibom: A Boost to Development” – Akpabio

By George Ozalla

A high-powered meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of Akwa Ibom State has been held today, marking a significant step towards a new political alignment in the state. The meeting, which was hosted by Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, saw a strong showing of support from members and stakeholders.

In his remarks, Senator Akpabio called on APC members to welcome defectors from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) with open arms, emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration to foster development and progress in the state. He assured members that the proposed alignment would attract significant federal interventions, aimed at improving the welfare and development of the people.

Senator Akpabio noted that Governor Umo Eno, after serious consultation with all stakeholders, had declared that there was a need for the state to support their son, and also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding an Akwa Ibom son worthy to be the Number three citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He added that it was now time for the whole state to follow him, given his wide consultations with traditional rulers and political class across all political parties.

According to Senator Akpabio, it was not only the Governor and the PDP that would join APC, but all other political parties would also join. He expressed optimism that this development would lead to a rancour-free election, with APC being big enough to accommodate everyone. He urged party members, both old and new, to remain united and peaceful in the overall interest of the state.

Senator Akpabio spotlighted the benefits of being linked to the centre, including increased federal presence in terms of projects and human capital development. He emphasized that what the party wanted from its members was unity and peace, and that the new alignment would usher in a new era of development and progress for Akwa Ibom State.

Banking on this development, it is likely that APC will have a strong showing in the upcoming elections, with the potential to attract more defectors from other parties. The party’s growth and expansion are expected to have a serious impact on the state’s politics, with many looking forward to a more peaceful and development-oriented election season.
