The late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a renowned elder statesman and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has left behind a will that includes a surprising condition for his wife, Lolo Frances. According to the document, released on June 16, 2025, and managed by Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), Frances is prohibited from remarrying if she wants to retain the properties bequeathed to her.
The will outlines the distribution of Iwuanyanwu’s wealth among his immediate family and select beneficiaries. Frances has been willed the iconic “Legacy House” on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, with strict instructions that the house must never be sold. She also received ownership of Magil Furniture and partial ownership of real estate holdings in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State. However, if she remarries, she will automatically forfeit these properties.
Their son has inherited the Abuja residence, while the London property is slated for sale, with the proceeds to be divided among their children. The will also includes a philanthropic gesture, converting the “Glass House” near the Orji flyover into a public trust for charitable and community causes.
Iwuanyanwu’s children have described their father’s final instructions as “honorable and just.” The will has sparked reactions, with many expressing interest in the details of the document and its implications for the family.
