The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up efforts to track down the armed men responsible for the abduction and murder of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, the Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet. The police directive follows the recovery of the victim’s navy blue Toyota Corolla along Ukwulu/Igbariam road by a Joint Security Team comprising Anambra Vigilante Operatives and the Police.
According to preliminary investigations, the assailants trailed the victim before launching a violent attack at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, Awka, on July 27, 2025. During the attack, the deceased was shot in the leg and forcibly taken away, only to be found lifeless later, sparking widespread outrage and concern among Awka residents.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed all tactical and intelligence units to redouble their efforts in tracking down the armed men. The police have assured that the perpetrators will be brought to book, stating that they owe it to the family, the people of Anambra, and the memory of the deceased to ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.
The Anambra State Police Command has urged the public to continue supporting the command and other security agencies by reporting suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated accordingly.
