Advertising Practitioners’ Association Urges Compliance with Regulations Ahead of Rivers State Elections

By George Ozalla

The Advertising Practitioners’ Association Port Harcourt chapter (APAPHC) led by its Chairman, Dr. Dike Bekwele Fnipr, Fnimn, Rpa has called on political parties to comply with advertising regulations and laws during the upcoming August 30th council elections in Rivers State.

In an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, Chairman Dr. Dike Bekwele emphasized the importance of adhering to the laws. “Political parties and their candidates should comply with the Advertising regulations and laws by engaging services of only registered advertising practitioners who will help to secure clearance from the Advertising regulators before campaigns begin,” he stated.

Dr. Bekwele warned against patronizing unregistered practitioners, or “quacks,” which he said is a violation of the ARCON law of 2022. “I enjoin politicians and political parties to ensure that only practitioners registered with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria are consulted and engaged for all forms of political campaigns, as patronizing quacks amounts to economic crime.”

As the umbrella body of Port Harcourt-based advertising practitioners registered by ARCON, the Advertising Practitioners’ Association Port Harcourt chapter aims to uphold the integrity and professionalism of advertising practices.
