EVC/CEO NCC: Dr Aminu Maida

President Bola Tinubu has reconstituted the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), retaining Dr. Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the commission. As part of the reconstitution, the President appointed a new Chairman for the NCC Board, Olorunnimbe, whose leadership is expected to drive the commission’s strategic initiatives.

Dr. Maida, who has been at the helm of the NCC since October 2023, is retained for his expertise in driving the commission’s digital transformation agenda. With over 15 years of experience in FinTech, Telecoms, and Enterprise Technology, Maida’s leadership is expected to continue shaping Nigeria’s telecoms sector.

The reconstituted NCC Board is expected to drive initiatives focused on job creation, digital economy growth, and improved broadband penetration, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. Under Dr. Maida’s leadership, the NCC aims to enhance quality of service indicators and prioritize quality of experience for telecom consumers.

The appointment of Olorunnimbe as Chairman is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the NCC Board’s leadership and guide the commission’s efforts in regulating the rapidly evolving telecoms industry. The reconstitution of the NCC Board is expected to have a significant impact on the telecoms industry, shaping the commission’s regulatory approach and driving growth in the sector.
