The Nibo community is shrouded in sorrow following the demise of its illustrious son, Engr Chief Sir Dr. Ozo Ichie Innocent Akuvue Ochudo Nibo, a man whose impact on humanity will be etched in the hearts of the people forever. According to Professor Tony Nwokoye, the current President General of Nibo Town Union Worldwide, who succeeded the deceased, Ochudo Nibo’s passing has left an unfill able void in the community.
Ochudo Nibo was a pillar of development in Nibo, Anambra State, Nigeria, where he spearheaded numerous initiatives. Notably, he built a 1.8 km road in the community and supported other road projects. His dedication to education was evident in his support for PTA teachers at Ezeike High School and Nneoma Community Secondary School, whom he had been paying for over ten years.
As Chairman of the Board of Nibo Community Hospital Ltd, Dr Akuvue (Ochudo Nibo) played a pivotal role in the hospital’s success since its commissioning by the Governor of Anambra State on December 31, 2023. His financial contributions to the hospital were substantial. Additionally, he led The GMB Microfinance Bank, a bank wholly owned by Nibo people, as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2021 until his passing, steering the bank towards growth and prosperity.
The community has also benefited from his security initiatives, including a ₦1.3 million contribution to the Nibo Security Trust Fund in 2024 and ₦2 million to the Nibo Security Management and Finance Committee in 2025.
“Nibo Community just lost a rare gem, a caring man, a lover of good things and a man of the people,” Professor Nwokoye said, echoing the sentiments of many. As the community mourns this irreparable loss, Professor Nwokoye urges the people to reflect on Dr. Akuvue’s life and legacy, coming together in unity for the sake of their community. Ochudo Nibo’s impact on Nibo will be remembered forever.
