Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2025 Anambra State election, has vowed to transform the state into a secure, investor-friendly and development-driven homeland if elected. Ukachukwu, a businessman and real estate magnate, emerged from the APC primary held on April 6, 2025, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka after polling 1,455 votes out of 1,630 cast, leaving his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, with 67 votes.

Speaking at the 2025 Aguata Diocesan Christian Men Conference at St. Lawrence Parish, Ndiowu in Orumba South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu said his administration will prioritize security, economic revitalization and infrastructure development, pledging that confidence would be restored in the state within the first 30 days of his government. He outlined plans to attract industries, create sustainable jobs for youths, boost agricultural production and productivity, provide reliable electricity and renew critical infrastructure across the state.

The theme of the conference, Ukachukwu noted, was “The God’s Great Task for the Church, The Great Commission”. He used the platform to cast his bid in moral and religious terms, insisting his campaign was as much a spiritual calling as it was a political mission. In a portion of his address delivered to delegates and parishioners, he said in his own words: ” i have come to deliver the state from the hand of the criminals and kiddnapers which has drove the investors.” He continued in the same address: “I have the mandate to serve as an evangelist, it is a clarion call to the people of Anambra State to join hands lets build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations, with a focus on industraltion, agriculture, healthcare, education and infrastructure development Anambra State is poised to become a hub for growth and investment in Nigeria”.

Ukachukwu told the audience that the scale of the state’s problems demanded urgent, decisive action and that his administration would be measured by concrete improvements to citizens’ daily lives. He emphasized commitment to delivering “real change” and to improving living standards, saying that under his stewardship Anambra would “achieve greatness and be a model for development in Nigeria.”

Local church leaders and conference organisers received Ukachukwu and his entourage warmly. Rt. Rev. Samuel Chukwudi Ezeofor, President and Bishop of the Diocese of Aguata, expressed appreciation for the candidate’s visit and for the message he brought to the conference, commending his vision for the state and praying for guidance and success.

Ukachukwu’s appearance at the diocesan event underlines his effort to build grassroots support across religious and civic organisations as the campaign season intensifies. With security, employment and infrastructure at the top of his agenda, the candidate has cast his platform as a rapid-response roadmap aimed at restoring investor confidence and repositioning Anambra as a centre for growth and opportunity.
