Akpabio Denies Fake Statement Against Trump, Blasts Rant HQ

The Office of the President of the Senate has dismissed as false and malicious a statement credited to Senator Godswill Akpabio by an online platform, Rant HQ, describing the publication as a deliberate act of misinformation aimed at inciting tension.

In a press statement signed by Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, the post, which claimed that Akpabio allegedly said, “The killing is taking place in Nigeria not in USA, Trump should focus on US. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings, we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria,” was described as “a total falsehood and a product of mischief.”

Eyiboh stated that the Senate President never made such a remark — publicly or privately — and challenged the authors to provide any evidence to substantiate the claim. He added that the photograph used in the viral post was taken at an official event and was deceptively employed to give credibility to the fake quote.

The statement emphasized that Senator Akpabio, as a statesman of global repute, is known for promoting diplomacy and mutual respect among nations. It noted that the Senate President holds former U.S. President Donald Trump in high regard and would never issue comments on internal affairs of the United States or matters reserved for Nigeria’s executive arm and foreign policy institutions.

Describing the publication as “digital recklessness” and “a deliberate attempt to sow confusion and tarnish reputations,” the statement urged the public to disregard it completely.

It further cautioned Rant HQ and other online publishers against spreading unverified and fabricated stories in the name of free expression, noting that “freedom of expression is not freedom to lie.”

Eyiboh reaffirmed that the Office of the President of the Senate remains committed to transparency, truth, and responsible communication both locally and internationally.
