By George Ozalla

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has appointed Deputy Director John Okor Odey as its new Spokesperson. He takes over from Demola Bakare and will also head the Commission’s newly created Media and Public Communications Unit under the Office of the Chairman.

According to a press statement signed by Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, the Commission expects Odey’s background in communication to strengthen public engagement, deepen media relations and support its drive to promote transparency and public awareness of its anti-corruption mandate.

Odey began his career as an editor before moving into broadcast work as a scriptwriter and presenter. Since joining the ICPC, he has served in Public Enlightenment, Protocol and Zonal Operations, bringing experience in strategic messaging and reputation management.

He holds a degree in English and Literature, a Masters in Leadership Studies, and an MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies, alongside a Professional Diploma in Public Relations. He is also a certified member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

The ICPC is Nigeria’s dedicated anti-corruption agency responsible for enforcement, prevention and public education on corruption-related offences.
