The conference hall of Jasmine Hotel in the Central Business District of Abuja carried a quiet hum of anticipation on Wednesday December 10, 2025 as Comrade Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, popularly known as Delaw and the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship, addressed the League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja during a press briefing to unveil his development plan for the council. Chukwu spoke extemporaneously, delivering his message with conviction and clarity.
He said his aspiration for leadership is driven entirely by the needs of the people, stressing that the era of political promises without measurable delivery must end. His administration, if elected, would introduce a contract-signing agreement with residents to tackle their distinct concerns, noting that every community deserves tailored governance rather than generic pledges.
Chukwu praised APGA leadership and the efforts of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, and said he would replicate Soludo’s model of free maternal health care in AMAC. He described such initiatives as tangible evidence of effective governance that could be adapted to meet the specific needs of residents.
Flanked by his running mate, Hon Hussaini Jibrin, and other APGA councillorship candidates, Chukwu presented a united front. Jibrin expressed total alignment with Chukwu’s vision, saying they form a formidable team capable of delivering transformative governance across the council.
Chukwu expressed confidence that the electoral climate is favourable for a shift in how the council is run. He said the combination of public support and divine guidance would position APGA for victory, adding that his SMART agenda offers a defined structure for service delivery, modernisation of local governance, transparent systems, and targeted interventions across communities.
The SMART framework sets out immediate action points from the first day in office. Chukwu highlighted plans to improve internal revenue processes, revive infrastructure, reform waste management, adopt digital administration tools, and strengthen engagements with traditional institutions, youth groups, and resident associations. Security coordination, health-centre upgrades, and improved market sanitation will receive deliberate attention, as he insisted residents deserve essential services that function without excuses.
He emphasised the need to rebuild public trust in the council’s leadership, saying AMAC can run efficiently and transparently when guided by leaders who respect the people’s mandate. He described his approach as inclusive, assuring all demographic and ethnic groups within AMAC equal access to the council’s programmes, interventions, and decision-making channels.
Chukwu added that his team reflects competence and diversity, noting that their collective experience and commitment to service will drive a council administration that restores dignity and elevates the quality of life for residents.
Comrade Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu (Delaw) is an APGA stalwart and Chairman of the Forum of All Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria. He is a long-standing community mobiliser known for grassroots engagement across the Abuja Municipal Area Council. His emergence as the party’s chairmanship candidate positions him as a leading voice seeking a transformative shift in AMAC’s governance landscape.
