Alhaji Ahmad Abba has assumed office as the new Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority following a minor redeployment approved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
The redeployment also saw the former Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Engr Godwin Balang, moved to the Directorate of Airworthiness Standards as director. Balang replaces the immediate past Director of Airworthiness Standards, Engr Victor Goyea, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency as Director of Special Duties.
The change of leadership was formalised at a brief handover ceremony held at the Director General’s Board Room of the NCAA Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday. During the ceremony, Engr Balang familiarised the new director with the core responsibilities of the Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, highlighting ongoing reforms as well as projections for the coming period.
In his response, Abba, who until his redeployment served as Director of Special Duties at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, expressed readiness to apply his professional experience toward consolidating the gains already recorded in the directorate and supporting the authority’s broader regulatory mandate.
The Directorate of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards plays a central role in regulating airport infrastructure and airspace management standards in Nigeria, ensuring compliance with international aviation safety requirements and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the country’s aviation sector.
