Akpabio Condoles With Ubani Over Mother’s Death

by George Ozalla

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Dr Monday Ubani, SAN, following the burial of his mother, Mrs Nsomma Gladys Ubani, at Umuosoko Awomukwu in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.
Mrs Ubani, who died at the age of 90, was laid to rest in her hometown of Awomukwu, where family members, friends and associates gathered to bid her farewell.
Speaking at the family residence, Akpabio said the death of a parent, regardless of age, leaves a deep sense of loss, noting that life and death ultimately rest in the hands of God. He described the passing of a mother as a moment that creates an irreplaceable vacuum, as it brings an end to parental companionship and counsel.
The Senate President urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a long and worthy Christian life devoted to the service of God and humanity, and prayed for divine strength for the family to bear the loss.
In his response, Dr Ubani expressed gratitude to Akpabio for attending the burial despite his demanding national schedule, noting that he had not expected the Senate President to be physically present on the day.
Dr Ubani described his late mother as a woman of strong faith, deep spiritual conviction and a committed prayer warrior who upheld justice and spoke frankly at all times. He said her passing had left a void that would be difficult to fill.

He added that the show of support from Akpabio and other well-wishers had given him and his family the strength to endure the loss, describing the condolence visit as one they would always remember.
Dignitaries at the burial included the Senator representing Abia Central, Austin Akobundu, the immediate past Senator for Abia Central, Darlington Nwokocha, the member representing Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, Dr Patrick Umoh, and other political and community leaders.
