A warm glow settled over the St. Felix Primary School compound in Nise on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, as music floated into the night and a large crowd gathered for an evening shaped by compassion, fellowship and shared identity. Widows from different parts of the town happily sat beneath decorated canopies clutching bags of rice and some carried on their heads dancing and muttering words of prayer and blessings for NPBA, while families, guests and Association members exchanged laughter and warm greetings in an atmosphere that deepened with emotion as the night progressed.
The colourful gathering was organised by the Nise Prestigious Brothers Association, NPBA, as part of its festive season outreach, during which about 200 bags of rice were distributed to widows. The gesture was aimed at easing the strain on beneficiaries while reaffirming the Association’s bond with the Community it calls home.
Speaking during the programme, President of the Association, Chike Okpagu, said the outreach was driven by a desire to stand with Mothers and Sisters at a time often marked by heavy responsibilities. He noted that the Association has remained active in charity and intervention efforts over the years but deliberately chose to host this particular initiative in Nise to make its impact felt directly at home. He assured that the gesture would not end with this edition, describing it as part of a continuous commitment to Community support.
The event also featured the presentation of a cheque of ₦750,000 to the Nise Youth Association to support its ventures. The cheque was handed over by the President General of the Nise Town Union, Lagos Branch, on behalf of the NPBA, drawing applause and cheers from the audience.
Chairman of the Nise Youth Association, who received the cheque on behalf of the group, expressed deep appreciation to the NPBA for the confidence shown in the youth. He pledged that the funds would be put to immediate and judicious use in pursuit of the Association’s objectives.
Other speakers, including Nnamdi Molokwu and Chinedum Okoye, the Public Relations Officer of the NPBA, underscored the importance of kindness and collective responsibility, especially towards the less privileged, noting that such gestures strengthen communal bonds and shared values.
Several beneficiaries of the rice distribution also spoke briefly, offering prayers for members of the association and describing the support as timely and heartwarming.
The programme was jam-packed and stretched late into the night, with assorted meals and drinks served, music performances keeping the mood lively, and friendly banter flowing among NPBA members, their families, friends and invited guests. During the event, a call was made for prospective members to join the association, with a special promotional admission window announced as ongoing.
