President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another and show tolerance across religious and ethnic lines as Christians celebrate Easter.
In a message conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President said the season calls for reflection on the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the lessons it holds for daily living.
He extended Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and abroad on behalf of his family, constituents, the Senate and the National Assembly, urging citizens to make conscious efforts toward unity and mutual respect.
Akpabio noted that the country is going through a difficult period, especially with security concerns in several parts of the nation, and appealed for patience, understanding and a stronger sense of collective responsibility among Nigerians.
He said the government and security agencies are continuing their efforts to address the situation, expressing confidence that the country will pull through with sustained cooperation and shared commitment.
The Senate President also expressed sympathy with families affected by violent attacks across the country, including recent killings in Jos, and prayed for comfort for those who have lost loved ones.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and resolute, stressing the need for unity as the country works through its present challenges.
The message comes at a time of heightened concern over insecurity in parts of the country, with public officials clamouring for unity and coordinated action.
