Lar Picks APC Nomination Form for 2027 Reps Race

By George Ozalla

Hon. Beni Lar has picked the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Langtang North and South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, formally setting in motion her return bid to the National Assembly.
The purchase of the forms marks her official entry into the race and signals her readiness to participate in the party’s primaries, as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the election cycle.
A ranking member of the House of Representatives and one of the most senior female lawmakers from Northern Nigeria, Beni Lar is returning to the contest on the strength of her legislative experience and established political network. Her years in the National Assembly have placed her in a position to navigate parliamentary processes and engage federal institutions in ways her supporters believe will continue to benefit the constituency.
During her previous tenure, she facilitated the siting of more than seven federal government agencies within Langtang North and South Federal Constituency, with permanent structures completed and some already commissioned.
Her record in office also reflects a spread of projects across key sectors. Rural electrification initiatives extended power to several communities, while road projects improved access within the constituency. In education, over 60 classroom blocks were constructed and furnished, helping to ease pressure on existing facilities.
She also supported water and agricultural development through the facilitation of several mid-sized earth dams, while primary healthcare centres were built and equipped to improve access to basic medical services at the grassroots.
In the area of human development, thousands of constituents benefited from job placements in both the public and private sectors through her efforts. Working with federal agencies, she also facilitated skills acquisition programmes for women and youth, covering areas such as food processing, renewable energy, automobile maintenance, leather works, and small-scale production.

On legislative duties, Beni Lar contributed to debates and sponsored motions on issues of national concern, including insecurity, power supply, and social protection. She maintained a steady voice on matters affecting women and children and represented Nigeria in several international parliamentary engagements as part of delegations from the House of Representatives.
Her decision to seek another term is expected to shape early political alignments within APC in Plateau State, as consultations begin ahead of the party’s primaries. Supporters say her return bid offers an opportunity to consolidate on previous efforts and sustain development across Langtang North and South Federal Constituency as the 2027 elections draw closer.
