Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has formally submitted his nomination form to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial District seat in the January 16, 2027 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omo-Agege disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, describing the development as a key step in his renewed bid to return to the National Assembly to represent Delta Central.
He said the submission of his nomination form aligns with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2022 as amended, and the guidelines of the APC.
According to him, the decision reflects his continued commitment to public service and to the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also strengthening collaboration with Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in the interest of peace, development and unity in the state.
Omo-Agege expressed appreciation to leaders and members of the APC in Delta Central for their support and confidence, noting that their encouragement remains a driving force in his political engagements.
He also commended the party leadership for what he described as a transparent and orderly nomination process, saying it reflects internal discipline within the APC.
He pledged to run a campaign anchored on issues and peaceful engagement, insisting that the 2027 elections should reflect the aspirations and concerns of the people rather than division or hostility.
The former Senate Deputy President further stated that unity within the APC remains critical to achieving electoral success, urging members and stakeholders to remain focused on the bigger picture.
Omo-Agege maintained that Delta Central deserves a representative who is accessible, responsive and committed to delivering practical results that directly impact constituents.
He said these principles would guide his campaign as he seeks another mandate to serve.
Omo-Agege represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate from 2015 to 2023 and emerged as one of the most prominent political figures from the Niger Delta during his tenure in the National Assembly. He served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate and was widely regarded as a leading voice of the APC in the South-South region. In the 2023 general election, he contested the Delta State governorship election as the candidate of the APC, further deepening his political footprint across the state.
