As activities marking the 2026 Aviation Week celebration continue across the country’s aviation industry, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has called on members of the Authority’s Muslim Ummah to sustain prayers for the continued growth, safety and progress of the NCAA and Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Najomo made the appeal during an empowerment programme organised for members of the NCAA Muslim Ummah at the Authority’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, where over 20 beneficiaries received tools and equipment to support their livelihoods.
The beneficiaries comprised security personnel, cleaners and other selected individuals from within and outside the Authority. The families of two deceased beneficiaries were also remembered and received support during the exercise.
Delivering his goodwill message, the NCAA Director-General urged the Muslim faithful to continue praying for the Authority and the aviation industry, noting that peace, unity and God’s guidance remained essential to the sector’s continued growth and safe operations.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of staff and the less privileged, assuring that the management would sustain empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable members of the NCAA community.
“We will continue to do our best to support those in need. This is only one of several initiatives that management intends to sustain because staff welfare and giving hope to the less privileged remain important to us,” he said.
In his remarks, the Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards and Patron of the Headquarters Mosque, Alhaji Abba Ahmed, mni, commended Capt. Najomo for his consistent goodwill and commitment to the welfare of staff and members of the community.
He described the DGCA as a compassionate leader whose support for the Muslim Ummah and other welfare initiatives has continued to impact lives positively, urging beneficiaries to make good use of the items received.
Among the items distributed were sewing machines, deep freezers, Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, laptops, clippers and other barbing tools to enable beneficiaries establish or expand their businesses and become more self-reliant.
The event was attended by members of the NCAA Muslim Ummah and several senior management staff of the Authority, including the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu; Director of Aviation Security Regulation, Dr. Bernard Omogo; General Manager, Approved Maintenance Organisation Certification and Surveillance, Engr. Suleiman Akwuh; General Manager, Air Navigation Services, Alhaji Suleiman Aliyu; Technical Assistant to the Director-General, Engr. Ini-Abasi Udofia; Chief Imam of the NCAA Mosque, Alhaji Aminu Tasiu; and Mr. Sa’ad Al Amin Daggash.
The event formed part of activities lined up for this year’s Aviation Week celebration by the NCAA, bringing together management, staff and members of the Muslim Ummah in a programme that combined the annual observance with support for the less privileged.
